I’m a fan.
My facebook profile lists the sixty eight things that I have stumbled upon and decided to proclaim my affinity for within my online social network.
I just looked at my profile for the first time in a very, very long time and noticed that eight fan items randomly generate on my profile with each load, giving a browser a quick glimpse into things I like:
- Sigur Rós
- The Wire
- Lifehacker
- The Competitive Enterprise Institute
- Paul Ryan
- Arnold Schwarzenegger
- Arcade Fire
- Ron Paul
This selection of eight items out of sixty eight is composed of three politicians, two bands, one HBO television program, one libertarian D.C. based think tank and one blog.
One of my favorite ad campaigns, a personal favorite, I do not know if it was effective (no data) is the Mandarin Oriental “I’m a fan” advertisements featuring luminaries like I.M. Pei and Helen Mirren and Lance Armstrong.
Interesting people like an interesting brand, right? Reasonable message.
I have no idea what that jumble above says about me other than I probably lean Republican.
